The recent lunar eclipse was a perfect opportunity to test-drive my camera's time-lapse intervolometer. These images were each taken 2 minutes apart from the time the eclipse was half untill the time it was a total eclipse. I then took all the individual images and combined them in Photoshop for this neat single-image. I didn't reposition any of the images, this is an exact duplication of both the eclipse and the moon's travel through the night sky.
These images I exposed for a full moon, very low exposure as to gain all the details and craters of the surface. I changed the exposure for the moon's return journey to a longer exposure and I hope to be sharing that single-image when I am done creating it.
this is really sweet. i have seen something else like this too, but with something as cool as an eclipse its awesome. I didntk now cmaera had laspe times as long as two mins apart.

Oh yeah, my Canon S60 has the time lapse with images as much as 60 minutes apart, which I guess would be good for documenting the growth of a plant seedling or something.
I also did a series with the moon coming back from the eclipse, which i made into a Flash animation, hopefully to be posted soon.

WOW. Sweet.
I love it. I did the opposite, the beginning half is more exposed than the return, which is more similar to these images. I love that you were able to keep them all in their original positions. With my inexpensive tripod, I don't have the ability to set it up like this. I also am pretty certain I don't have any kind of time lapse function on my camera.

Thanks! Yeah, the time lapse function on my camera came in handy... its something I need to remind myself to use more. Though, at 2 minute intervals like this, its somewhat unnecessary if you can remember to take a shot manually each time. I was eating dinner at the time of the eclipse and just set up my tripod and let my camera do all the work!
